Amanda Liddle, DrPH, FAAN

Amanda Liddle, DrPH, FAAN, is the interim vice chair of the Department of Advanced Nursing Practice and assistant professor at Georgetown University.
Liddle is a public health specialist. She has more than 25 years of project, policy, clinical, and knowledge-strengthening experience in the health and welfare of women, infants, and children in economically and culturally diverse international settings, such as clinical centers, nongovernmental organizations, U.S. federal agencies, and the World Bank. Liddle’s expertise lies in project development, implementation, and evaluation, with a focus on medical and nursing capacity strengthening for HIV/AIDS in Africa and Asia. She is a master teacher, most recently with a focus on health care delivery and professional development. Liddle is an inaugural principal member of the Teaching Academy for the Health Sciences at Georgetown University Medical Center. She has received several awards and honors for academic support, leadership, and service from Sigma Theta Tau, Lister Hill Center for Health Policy (University of Alabama at Birmingham), Agency for Health Care Research and Quality (Department of Health and Human Services), Maternal and Child Health Bureau (Health Resources and Services Administration, HHS), and Georgetown University. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, serving on the Expert Panel on Global Nursing and Health.

Sarah Vittone, MSN, RN, MA

Sarah Vittone is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nursing at Georgetown University. She is a CNS in Pediatric Nursing with over 22 years of clinical experience. She teaches in the undergraduate and graduate nursing program. Sarah is affiliated with the Georgetown-Howard University- Clinical and Translational Sciences Award as a Research Participant Advocate. She is involved in human protection, protocol safety and research ethics in her position there. Sarah is an ethics consultant for the Georgetown University Medical Center as an associate with Georgetown Center for Clinical Bioethics, where she also does clinical ethics rounds and staff training. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI), the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities (ASBH) and Public Responsibility in Medicine and Research (PRIM&R). She received her BSN (88), MSN (89) and MA (94) at the University of Virginia. Her areas of interest include life span development, surrogacy and ethical decision making.

Ella Heitzler, PhD, FNP, WHNP

Dr. Heitzler is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Advanced Nursing Practice in the School of Nursing and Health Studies. Dr. Heitzler holds a secondary appointment in the Department of Professional Nursing Practice. She is a board certified women’s health nurse practitioner (WHNP) and holds additional certification as a family nurse practitioner (FNP). She is also certified in in-patient obstetrical nursing. She serves her community by providing gynecological care at a community-based free clinic.
Dr. Heitzler has been in academia since 2005, teaching traditional undergraduate/pre-licensure nursing students, RN to BSN students, and graduate nursing students both on-line and in-person. She has served on numerous academic committees such as curriculum, student affairs, and learning resources.

Kelley M. Anderson, PhD, FNP is an Associate Professor of Nursing at Georgetown University School of Nursing & Health Studies. She is a faculty member teaching in the Doctor of Nursing Practice, Clinical Nurse Leader, and Undergraduate Honors Program. Dr. Anderson is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner and has held a clinical position as a Nurse Practitioner at Medstar, Georgetown University Hospital in the Division of Cardiology since 2002. In 2013 she began collaborating with the Arlington Street People Assistance Network (A-SPAN) to provide primary health care services to the homeless in Arlington, Virginia. She is a member of the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses, serving on the Education and Editorial Committees; the Northern Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners, serving on the Nominations and Awards Committee; and Sigma Theta Tau, serving as Treasure for the Tau Chapter. Dr. Anderson received her BSN at the University of Virginia, MSN at the University of Texas, Austin, Post-Master’s FNP Certificate at the University of Florida and PhD in Nursing at The Catholic University of America.

Dr. Gadler is an Assistant Professor in the Family Nurse Practitioner program. She joined our Georgetown team in 2015 as a Clinical Faculty Advisor. She brings to this position a variety of teaching experience and a true passion for shaping our future nurse practitioner professionals. Gadler maintains her clinical practice as an Emergency Department Nurse Practitioner in San Diego, California. In addition to being a Family Nurse Practitioner she also has expertise as a Urologic Oncology Nurse practitioner having worked in robotic surgery. She received her BSN from San Diego State University, MSN/FNP from Long Beach State University, RNFA from Northern New Mexico College, and DNP from Duke University.

Susan Coleman is a clinical faculty member at Georgetown University School of Nursing and Health Studies. Her specialty areas are Public Health Nursing and Vulnerable Populations. She received her BSN from the University of Michigan and MPH from The Johns Hopkins University. In addition to clinical teaching, Susan maintains an independent consulting practice. She is Chair-Elect of the Public Health Nursing Section of the American Public Health Association (APHA) in addition to Chair-Elect of the Quad Council of Public Health Nursing Organizations.

Cindy Farley, CNM, PhD, FACNM

Cindy L. Farley, CNM, PhD, FACNM, studied midwifery at Emory University. She earned her BSN and PhD from The Ohio State University and her MSN from Emory University. She is an Associate Professor at Georgetown University in the Nurse-Midwifery/ Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) program. She serves as a locum tenens clinician for the midwifery practice at Pomerene Hospital, Millersburg, Ohio, home of the largest Amish and Anabaptist population in the world. She has taken midwifery students to Haiti to work with the nongovernmental organization (NGO), Midwives for Haiti, working toward building the Haitian midwifery work force and saving lives of Haitian mothers and babies. Dr. Farley serves as a legal expert on selected cases involving midwifery regulatory issues and clinical care. She is co-editor of Clinical Practice Guidelines for Midwifery and Women’s Health, 5th edition. She is also co-editor of the American College of Nurse-Midwives 2015 Book of the Year, Prenatal and Postnatal Care: A Woman Centered Approach. In 2015, she was the recipient of the Ohio Legacy Award, the Dorothea Lange award, and was honored at Frontier Nursing University at the Chicken Coop Reunion as faculty in the early days of their midwifery education program. Dr. Farley has developed a learning activity at Georgetown University called Advocacy Skills on Capitol Hill; groups of midwifery students visit their federal legislator and advocate for positive difference in important health policies and legislation. Making midwives to improve the health of women and their families is her passion.

Diana has been a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) since 2000. She spent 14 years working in a busy rural family practice clinic in mid-Michigan. She recently relocated to Central Oregon where she now practices part time in an Urgent Care. She as been with Georgetown's FNP online program since 2012. She initially served as a Clinical Faculty Advisor, and now holds the role of Clinical Faculty Director. She continues to act as a CFA and teaching in a variety of the FNP courses. Diana is passionate about being a FNP and enjoys the opportunity to share her knowledge with students, and help them become successful NPs as well.

Liz Sloss is an Instructor at Georgetown University's School of Nursing and Health Studies. Liz received her BSN from Georgetown University and MSN from George Mason University. Additionally, she will complete her MBA degree from GU's McDonough School of Business in Spring 2017. Prior to joining the faculty, Liz worked as a registered nurse and clinical educator in various areas of women's health nursing including inpatient obstetrics, infertility, and research. Her professional and research interests include women's health and developing nurses as leaders.

Diane Davis is an Instructor in the Department of Nursing at Georgetown University School of Nursing and Health Studies. She is a Clinical Nurse Specialist with more than 30 years of experience in clinical, administrative and consultative nursing practice focused on the health and well being of children and families. Diane has taught at Georgetown University since 2006 primarily as a Clinical Instructor in Pediatrics. Her interests include new models of health care delivery and innovative approaches to nursing and interdisciplinary education. She received her BSN from Georgetown University and her MSN from the University of Virginia. As the STTI Tau chapter Nurse Leader Counselor Diane hopes to advance the STTI goal of recognizing nurses in our community who exemplify excellence in scholarship, leadership and service.
